“Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotion know what it means to want to escape from these” – T.S. Eliot
Poetry as I have understood
Poets usually don’t know how their poems would come out-when they generally start writing. They write without any preplan. Beginning with unstable words, the verses shape up to form poems, resulting in the most stable and mature words. Diving into the vocabulary, getting the right imagery, trailing the correct rhythm, following the methods of meter and rhyme are some of the various points that are ensured by a general poet.  There are a few who do with special care and plan. But, beyond, the extra-ordinary poets think in a unique way, get their flow natural to create a treasure trove of poems. Poets wax about their feelings, their emotions and personality in their poems, just to get an escape. The unexplored corners of the mind are revealed. The tidbits of their personalia are exposed.  That is what about writing poetry in a nutshell.
My favorite quotation
“When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take the step into the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for us to stand on or we will be taught to fly.” – Patrick Overton
