How Can We Wipe Out The Corruption and Bribery from India?

With an Attitude of Gratitude to Ms. Sahana Mam for Blessing me with an opportunity to be the part of the Beautiful Family of Spark, I am pleased to share my First Article on  Sparking.Biz.

This all started, when they called me to express my views on “Can We Wipe Out The Corruption and Bribery From India?”

The topic is quite close to my Heart and I immediately started thinking about what to share. I thought the question should not be “Can We wipe out the corruption and bribery from India?” but Right Question to ask is,

How Can We Wipe Out The Corruption and Bribery from India?

Because I strongly believe that by asking Right Questions only We can find Right Answers.

First Let’s Understand that What’s the Meaning of CORRUPTION!

Now, It will be easy for us to find out that Which Actions We can Declare as Corrupt Actions.

As I firmly believe that Everything is happening according to Law of Cause and Effect which means Every Effect has its Cause and Law means it applies to Everything Equally.

So Let’s discuss on CAUSE first, as AN EFFECT is just mere MIRROR of that CAUSE.

  • Why would Anyone Take Corrupt Action if the Person knows the Consequences of that Action?

So One More Question comes here:

  • What are the Consequences I need to face if I do Corrupt Action?

Now Again the Question is

  • Do We really have Fear of those Consequences?

And we know What’s the answer to the question.

Actually, Corruption is not a New Phenomenon in India. It has been Prevalent in Society since Ancient Times. History reveals that it was Present Even in the Mauryan Period.

Great Scholar Kautilya mentions the Presence of 40 types of Corruptions in his Contemporary Society. It was practiced even in Mughal and Sultanate Period. When The East India Company took control of the Country, Corruption reached the New Heights.

Corruption in India has become so common that People now are averse to thinking of Public Life with it.

Corruption has always existed in Human Society in One or the Other Form. Corruption is a regarded as a Low Risk and Highly Profitable way of Earning Quick Money and whoever is Caught knows how to Scot Free.

I would like to share some facts here which shows that what’s history of Corruption in India. As per Transparency International, Global Corruption Barometer (2010), surveying 91,500 people across 86 countries

? 62% of Indians had first-hand experience of Paying Bribes or Influence Peddling to get Jobs done in Public Offices Successfully.

? 40% of Indians had first-hand experience of Paying Bribes or Using a Contact to get a Job Done in Public Office.

? As of December 2009, 150 of India’s 543 Parliament Members were facing Criminal Charges(17-Murder,19-Attempted Murder,3-Multiple Charges of Murder).

Most Corrupt States are Bihar and Jammu & Kashmir followed by Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Orissa etc.

? India ranks as 81st least Corrupt Nation out of 175 countries, according to the 2017 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International. Corruption Rank in India averaged 75.57 from 1995 until 2017, reaching an all-time high of 95 in 2011 and a record low of 35 in 1995.

The Country which was known for Moral and Ethical Values, where Spirit of Truism adored, Fair means were advocated to attain anything, has now counted among the top 100 Most Corrupted Nations of the World.

When Generations of Indians have seen nothing but Depravity and Debasement, How can we Expect Righteousness in Return? As we get to understand The Causes of Corruption, Now let’s figure out the Solution to wipe it out this Monster from our Beautiful Nation.

Because as Doctor can only cure Diseases by knowing that WHY(cause) actually it happened.

Again, let’s Understand what’s solution stands for…

Solution :- Solving + Action

So until and unless if we don’t take action to solve it, anything gonna change.

As Right said that,
Nothing will Change Until We Change.
Nothing Will Get Better Until We Get Better.

In the Words of Mahatma Gandhi, Be the Change You Want to See in the World.

So Let’s seek the Solution from the Most Reliable Source, Which is Bhagavad-Gita

The Compilation below is an attempt to understand Corruption, its Cause, and Solution as mentioned in the Bhagavad-Gita.

? Money Lost – Nothing Lost;
? Health Lost – Something Lost;
? Moral Lost – Everything Lost

This explains beautifully that We need to bring back our Ethical Morals if We really want to remove Corruption as well as Bribery.

So the Question comes “How can we bring back our Ethical Morals?”

The answer to this question we have from Our Most Respected Former President Mr. Abdul Kalam.

He said: “If a Country is to be Corruption Free and become a Nation of Beautiful Minds, I strongly feel there are three Key Societal Members who can make a Difference. They are the Father, the Mother, and the Teacher.”

He says that he strongly believes in the mantra of “सोच बदलो देश बदलो।”

Let’s go deeper,

4:7 – The Bhagavad-Gita

Arjuna, Whenever Righteousness is on the Decline, the Unrighteousness is in the Ascendant, then I body Myself Forth.

Which means that Whenever We Start Compromising our ETHICAL MORALS then We start contributing towards अधर्म.

Now we need to look at ourselves and need to ask questions,

  • Are We Really Living with ETHICAL MORALS Every Day as well as in Each Area of Life?
  • Are We Really Parenting our Children with ETHICAL MORALS?
  • Are We Really Doing our Work by obeying ETHICAL MORALS

Answers to these questions, you need to find yourself.

As We have the Proper Idea of the Cause, let’s take help of Bhagavad-Gita to understand How to Judge One’s Character Whether the Person is living with ETHICAL MORALS or not.

? 16:6 – The Bhagavad-Gita

There are only two types of Men in this World, Arjuna, the One Possessing a Divine Nature and the Other Possessing a Demonical Disposition.

? 16:7 – The Bhagavad-Gita

Men Possessing a Demoniac Disposition don’t know “What is Right Action and What is Right Abstinence from the Activity. Hence They possess Neither Purity (External or Internal) nor Good conduct, not Even Truthfulness (In-human).

Solution – Those who strive to Establishing Dharma (righteousness) are the true warriors (Kshatriyas).

This shows that We simply need to focus on Establishing धर्म (Possessing a DIVINE NATURE and MORALS) to wipe out अधर्म (Corruption and Bribery).

Our Country India Can only be Corruption Free If We Indian’s follow these 3 Steps.

  1. Change Begin within Ourselves: So Let’s Focus on, Establishing Ethical Morals in Our Character, Our Family and in Our Society.
  2. By Creating an Environment Through Social Media, By Playing A Drama on this Subject in Schools and in Society.
  3. Let’s take Charge of this Action of Wiping out Corruption and Bribery From India.

As Rightly Said by Sir Albert Einstein,

“The World is a Dangerous Place not because of People Who do Evil but Because of Those Who Look On and Do Nothing.”

So We need to raise our Voice, take Massive Actions against Corruption and Bribery with Whatever Capacity We have.

By Just Complaining Or Discussing on Corruption and Bribery won’t help us to become Corruption Free Country.

By Taking Strict Action to Wipe it out will definitely help us to do so.

In last I am ending my view with one Poem,
