Creative solutions-the need of the hour

     In this transitional era of fourth industrial revolution where artificial intelligence and robotics are occupying the center stage, there are a multitude of problems that need creative solutions.  Visualize the effects of technological advancement in the year 2020. With artificial intelligence and robotics replacing millions of jobs, people have to think about the complexity of problems that may arise. There will be problems of keeping in pace with the innovations in nanotechnology, biotechnology and self driven vehicles.  With extreme inter connectivity, and growing complexity in disciplines like computer science and biology, we may have to turn data into insightful interpretations.  Robots cannot replace humans in leadership and managerial roles.  People still have to take role of leaders in people management.  They have to communicate effectively, collaborate with the teams take insightful decisions and negotiate intelligently.  

     With the complexity of situations that may arise with the transition from digital era to an era of AI and robotics, it is the need of the hour to change the world of work.  To combat with the changing situations that may arise, we may have to fully equip ourselves.  To thrive and to be productive a new set of work skills are required.   The world economic forum, chief human resources and strategy officers were asked what skills would be important in 2020 and they came out with a set of ten skills.

  • Coordinating with others
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Judgement and decision making
  • Service orientation
  • Negotiation
  • Cognitive flexibility
     To keep in pace with the AI machines, imagination, innovation and the the ability to see the problems in different perspectives are necessary.  Creativity should be unleashed to give positive solutions to complex problems.
